Gingersnaps
¾ cup shortening 1 cup brown sugar (packed) 1 egg ¼ cup molasses 2 - 2 ¼ cups flower 2 teaspoons baking soda 1 teaspoon cinnamon ½ - 1 teaspoon ginger ½ teaspoon cloves ¼ teaspoon salt Granulated sugar for topping
1. Cream shortening, brown sugar, egg, and molasses.
2. Mix in remaining ingredients except granulated sugar.
3. Cover and chill 1 hour.
4. Shaped dough by rounded teaspoonfuls into balls.
5. Dip tops in granulated sugar and place sugar side up 3" apart on a lightly greased baking sheet.
6. Bake 10 to 12 minutes at 375° F.
7. Immediately remove from baking sheet.
