Cream shortening, butter, sugar, and vanilla until fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, blending thoroughly after each addition. -
In a separate bowl sift flour, salt, and soda twice. -
Add dry ingredients alternately with milk to the creamy mixture. Combine bananas and nuts and blend into mixture. -
Pour into a greased angle-food cake pan and bake in 350 degree oven for one and one-half to one and three-fourths hours. This may be baked in two greased loaf pans for one hour and 10 minutes.
